# Priority fees API

Solana priority fees API: getRecentPrioritizationFees with a Triton percentile parameter returns fee estimates at that percentile instead of the minimum.

Solana's default `getRecentPrioritizationFees` returns the **minimum** priority fee paid in recent blocks. That number is often zero, so it is a poor signal for the competitive fee.

Triton's `getRecentPrioritizationFees` accepts a `percentile` parameter (50th for the median, 90th for a high-end estimate) to get an actionable estimate based on recent on-chain activity.

The method name is unchanged. `percentile` is an integer from 1 to 10,000, representing 0.01% to 100.00%, so `5000` is the 50th percentile (median); values above 10,000 are rejected. If you omit it, the method falls back to the standard behavior and returns the minimum fee.

For each recent block, Triton takes the compute-unit prices paid by its non-vote transactions and returns the value at your percentile. If you pass account addresses, it also takes that percentile over the transactions that write-lock each account, and returns the highest of these values.

## Sending a request

```json
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": "1",
  "method": "getRecentPrioritizationFees",
  "params": [
    ["RNXnAJV1DeBt6Lytjz4wYzvS3d6bhsfidS5Np4ovwZz"],
    { "percentile": 5000 }
  ]
}
```

## Expected response

The response format matches the standard Solana RPC method: one entry per recent block (up to 150), where `prioritizationFee` is a compute-unit price in micro-lamports at the requested percentile instead of the minimum.

```json
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "result": [
    { "slot": 348126, "prioritizationFee": 1000 },
    { "slot": 348127, "prioritizationFee": 500 }
  ],
  "id": "1"
}
```

## Client integration

This is a Triton extension, so it may not be in standard SDKs. This [example repository](https://github.com/rpcpool/solana-prioritization-fees-api/) includes utility functions that you can drop into a JavaScript or TypeScript codebase.
