# getLatestBlockhash (gRPC)

Returns the latest blockhash, its slot, and lastValidBlockHeight at a commitment level over Dragon's Mouth gRPC (geyser.Geyser/GetLatestBlockhash).

## Parameters

**`commitment`** · CommitmentLevel · optional

Commitment level for the query: `PROCESSED`, `CONFIRMED`, or `FINALIZED`. Defaults to `PROCESSED`.

## Result

**`slot`** · uint64: Slot at which the blockhash was taken. **`blockhash`** · string: The latest blockhash, base-58 encoded. **`lastValidBlockHeight`** · uint64: Block height of the returned block plus 300. A blockhash stops being accepted at a lower block height than this, so do not use it as an expiry height.
