# Entry updates

Stream entries (PoH ticks and transaction batches) over Dragon's Mouth gRPC.

## Filter

`SubscribeRequestFilterEntry`, keyed by a filter label:

**`include_update_parent`** · optional bool: `true` also sends `entry_update_parent` updates. Omitted or `false` sends entries only.

## Update

Each arrives as a `SubscribeUpdate` with `entry` set (`SubscribeUpdateEntry`):

**`slot`** · uint64: Slot the entry belongs to.

**`index`** · uint64: Entry index within the slot.

**`num_hashes`** · uint64: Number of PoH hashes since the previous entry.

**`hash`** · bytes: Entry hash.

**`executed_transaction_count`** · uint64: Transactions in this entry.

**`starting_transaction_index`** · uint64: Index of the first transaction in this entry within the block.

**`bank_id`** · uint64: Bank instance that executed the entry. A slot can have more than one bank, so use (`slot`, `bank_id`) to tell them apart.

With `include_update_parent`, the stream also carries `SubscribeUpdate` messages with `entry_update_parent` set (`SubscribeUpdateEntryUpdateParent`). Each one invalidates the entries of `cleared_bank_id`, including entries that arrive after it. The `SLOT_CREATED_BANK` slot update, available with `interslot_updates` on a slots filter that does not set `filter_by_commitment`, reports the replacement bank. Fields: `slot`, `cleared_bank_id`, `parent_slot`, and `parent_block_id`. These updates occur only where Alpenglow fast leader handover is active, when a leader switches to a different parent.
